Conics Team Day out 2020

15 October 2020

Last week it was time for the second edition of the Conics team day out. This time, however, the organisation was in the hands of our employees. Since the agenda had remained (almost) completely secret, we gathered slightly nervously in Ypres. As if the loss of control wasn't enough, initially only the mode of transport for the day was revealed: tandems...

So we pedalled towards… the unknown. At every crossroads, the ideas of where they were taking us gradually surfaced. As the kilometres slipped further under the wheels, the obvious options were slowly being exhausted. We left Ypres, passed Beselare, made a brief stop in Moorsele, and even sprinted through Kortrijk… Finally, we arrived in Zwevegem, a mere 40km further on… Fortunately, it stayed dry, there were no mechanical problems, and only limited flare-ups of discussions about which of the two was pedalling the hardest…

Fortunately, the next challenge was quickly awaiting: the Transfo Escape room. Challenge: get the steam engines of yesteryear up and running again within the hour. Completely COVID-proof, the team got to work. 56 minutes later, how could it be any different, we succeeded in completing the task within budget, on time, and within scope. Teamwork Conics style!

Those who thought it was back to Ypres were mistaken. A few metres further, the next challenge awaited: The Transfo dive tank! In the first edition, we went 15m high in Bleau, today we can go 15m deep! 3 fantastic and experienced instructors guided us in teams of 2 during the diving initiation. Step by step and metre by metre, we all managed to push our boundaries. What an experience! A big thank you to the Transfo team!

The day was concluded with a pleasant dinner and a good glass before taking the train back towards Ypres.

Thank you to the team for an emission-free, intensive and challenging team day!
